From a a long weekend. Unfortunately, I didn't have a long weekend. Students were out Friday but teachers were here all day for new training. Coming up this week students should be getting their science test results back early this week. Science will be entering Unit 2 so check back here with more information as I get it from the teachers.
In Language Arts, Mrs. Chelin should have a new calendar coming out and I will post that as soon as I have it. Mrs. Seffens has two things coming up Friday: one, is a test on Subject/Predicate; two, is a descriptive paragraph. Those are both due Friday. In math, Mrs. Kadinger has a test over the second half of chapter 1 coming up on Friday. Look for review items in the middle of week and come in and ask me questions before school or in Support class if there are things you aren't getting. I hope everybod

We didn't get to Progress Reports yesterday. Too much going on and a short Wednesday period to get it all done. So it didn't happen. I will happen today so look for those this weekend. Sorry for any inconvenience. Also, since all 7th graders will be doing student lead conferences this November, the students need to start collecting exemplary works to put in their file. If you have something that you did a great job on, bring it to me so we can put into your file.
Since Friday is a day off for students, I want to give everyone a chance to get caught up on missing work this weekend. Your student will be bringing home Progress Reports from Support class tonight instead of Thursday. I will take these for full credit, Thursday and Monday. Remember, progress reports turned in after Monday will receive no credit as we have moved on to the next week.
Also, quick reminders: Science test tomorrow for all 7th graders. Both Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Barnes have review guides that can be studied tonight!! Journals are due in Mrs. Chelin tomorrow. Short week for students this week with Friday being a professional development day. (That means a day meetings for me, so I would rather have the students!) Mrs. Chelin has her monthly entry tasks due this week on Friday. This is called journals. Many students in Support have a tough time with these, so it would be good to check in with your student and see that they have completed these. See below for a copy of the journal entries. Mrs. Seffens is working on descriptive paragraphs this week. They are also finishing up day of birth speeches. The test in Mrs. Barnes class has been moved from Wednesday to Thursday.
First of all, Language Arts projects are due tomorrow. This is the Day of Your Birth speech.
Mrs. Kadinger has a skills check tomorrow for 1-7. Some students are struggling with these skill checks in math this year. Mr. Grillo, Mrs. Charboneau, and Mrs. Kadinger all have skill check quizzes several times a week. It would be a good idea to review last night's math homework before coming to school so that the ideas are more fresh. Most of those teachers and myself are also around for help starting at 7:30 am. It could be as simple as working two more problems while eating breakfast in the morning! Finally, Progress Reports are coming home today and need to be signed by a parent and returned to me Friday for full points. This is worth 25% of the support grade this year. So mark your calendars for progress report checks on Thursdays this school year. Happy Tuesday! Just a reminder that Mrs. Seffens has a grammar test tomorrow and also a heads up that Mrs. Kadinger will have a skill check on Chapter 1 Lesson 7 on Friday.
Mrs. Seffens' will be assigning a speech due at the end of the week. This is a day of your birth speech. See documents below for details. Due Friday! Also, students will have an open note Types of Sentences (declarative, exclamatory, imperative, and interrogative) TEST on Wednesday. Mrs. Chelin also has this speech due this Friday.
Another week gone here and we are really starting to roll. Science and Language Arts are in full swing and history is wrapping a weeks worth of 9/11 reviews and videos. I would expect them to get going soon with more daily assignments. The Letter to the High School self was due today and most seemed to have it done (although there was some scrambling in support today :) ). Science is well into unit 1 so check those calendars to see what is due and what is coming up. Support progress reports look good but many did not turn them in. They should have called to remind you today if that was the case. Parent Portal is up and running so call the office if your student forgot to bring you the sheet or check their binders. Have a great weekend!

Parents and students should be talking about grades tonight. Students will be filling out progress reports and bringing them home for parents to sign and bring it back to me on Friday. This is worth 25% of the student's support grade this year.
Also, parents you should have received your Parent Portal sign in letter on Tuesday. This will give you the passwords to check grades on Parent Portal. Ask your student if you haven't seen it yet!! |
